David G. Roston has successfully defended and personally tried numerous criminal cases ranging from First Degree Murder to criminal misdemeanors, including high-profile matters involving public officials. He has extensive appellate experience, having written numerous briefs and argued many cases in Minnesota’s appellate courts and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Dave is the co-author (with the Honorable Henry W. McCarr, Jr.) of Minnesota Criminal Law and Procedure (Minn. CLE 1972 & 1974).
Dave received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Minnesota, and is admitted to practice in all Minnesota state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. In his more than 44 years of legal experience Dave has served as both an Assistant Hennepin County Attorney and an Assistant Hennepin County Public Defender, and has been in private practice since 1973.
Dave’s talent has been recognized by his peers. He has been named a “SuperLawyer” by Minnesota Law and Politics, Mpls/St. Paul and Twin Cities Business Monthly magazines, a designation awarded to only five percent of all Minnesota lawyers. Additionally, Dave has been selected as a Leading American Attorney in the area of criminal defense.
